Train Horns on Rescue 2

3 posts in this topic

First off I couldn't find the original posts on this.

With the recent topic of train horns on apparatus, there is a picture of R-2's E-one with their horns on top. The picture was posted on yahoo groups FDNYING. I know they had them on the 1978 Mack R / Saulsbury rescue but did they have them on all the rescues in between and when did they start using them. I think its kinda unique to have them and are effective. Any more info?

Rescue 3 had them on their rig back in the day. I've heard R-2 use them maybe once when they were going to something close to my apartment, or it may have been a work train in the Euclid Yards, but that sucker was loud either way.

There is a pic or 2 of the current E-One/Saulsbury FDNY Rescue 2 with the train horns on it at www.firepics.net
