Flashlights

7 posts in this topic

I'm looking for a great quality, security/all purpose duty flashlight. Going to be used for mainly ship security for a large ship I work on, but cannot be metal (no mag lights) Any suggestions or help... thinking of the Pelican BigED 3700 so far...

How about the Streamlights with the poly construction?

StreamLight hands down!

I have the PolyStinger, use it for work (installing Fire & Security Systems). Have the charger in the truck so it recharges every night. Gets about an hour an a half use per charge.

On a pre-wire (new construction) dropped it from the attic to the Front Door Foyer (concrete floor) approximately twenty feet. Picked it up and it still worked. I try not to abuse it, but work takes its toll. I have sent it in for repair several times (mostly for the switch cover wearing out, ripped) including once where the case cracked. Everytime they repaired/replaced it AT NO CHARGE. StreamLight=Lifetime Warranty. Can't beat that.

Check out SureFire lights. Especially for security / all purpose. I currently use a Z3 combat light with an upgraded lamp. Goes through batteries quite quickly due to the high output of the lamp, but it is without a doubt, the brightest light I have ever seen. Plus, its on/off switch is on the end cap. So you can use it constant or on and off...depending on your needs.

SureFire has a decent selection of lights...my model has been discontinued (Z3 Combatlight). But the Z2 Combatlight is currently issued to FBI Agents and USMS. I also have an executive E2E...but its not as bright.

I believe their web site is : Http://www.surefire.com

Best place to buy them is off e-bay.

Plus, everything on them is covered...except batteries. I melted a lens a few years back...my fault...but they covered it TOTALLY!

I hope this helps.

I use my Survivor light for all kinds of things, but mainly on my turnout gear. I had an issue with a part breaking on mine, contacted Streamlight, they had me send it back in, repaired FREE OF CHARGE, and returned it promptly.

I highly recommend Streamlight, any model!

My Streamlight Survivor has been fantastic. FF in training situations have come up to me and asked what light I have. Note that on the Survivor, the waterproof guarantee only goes if you have purchased the rechargeable batteries, which I may go back and purchase (=arm+leg). You can see 100 yards with that baby!
