Flood and Moving Water Rescue Class

I was just on the DIVE RESCUE INTERNATIONAL website and I noticed that there is a FLOOD AND MOVING WATER RESCUE CLASS being given at the end of OCT in YORKTOWN. There was no more information other than the dates. Does anybody have any further details? I think our DIVE TEAM would love to take the class. Any info would be great. THANKS

No idea on that class, but for those in CT, the Connecticut Fire Academy is offering a Surface Water Rescue Operational class, which mainly focuses on swift water rescue. I loved the class, it was taught by a CFA instructor who is a white-water kayaker in his spare time. The class was probably 50% FFs, 50% PD Dive Teams, a very good time for a very cheap class, $100 I believe for a 2 day class. Taught river features, equipment needs, rope bag deployments, cinches (spelling?), foot entanglements, self-rescue position and boat deployments (by way of tying off a raft on corners and having it move via land personnel.) A very useful class if you do swift water.

There is actually one within 15 minutes... I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the town or the river.

Rye FD (Career) just finished today Swift Water I. Life Guard Systems taught us. Really can not say enough about the instructors, great guys, even better teachers. If anyboby has a interest in these classes you really should contact them and book a date they are busy guys, with very few open dates. We are hoping to do part 2 in November. I want to say it was the Farmington River, but I'm not 100% sure. I don't know much about that area of the state.
