Update on Advanced Life Support

From Commissioner McMahon:

It appears that we may have come to a resolution on the ALS funding dilemma. I do not have any details yet, however, Bob Cuomo, the Legislature and the County Executives office have been working non stop toward a solution. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Please understand that there was never a move to diminish the role of ALS in Putnam County. I hope you appreciate that all of our elected officials in County government are committed toward providing the best possible services at the best possible price. Since this ALS contract presented such a significant budgetary impact the Legislature demonstrated due diligence in seeking alternate solutions. We at the Bureau of Emergency Services are also committed to that end and we will continue to explore innovative and efficient ways to continue to make Putnam County a safe place to live and visit.

Putnam's Legislature has approved funds to extend the contract to the end of the year. They are still seeking a long term solution and should be seeking bids for next years contract imminently.
