Yep there is nothing fast about the FASTeam. I am glad they got him out and it does get you going cause you have no idea what is gonna happen. he was trapped for 18 mins. good work picking him off with the ladder. know your MAYDAY procedure and be ready for anything. It can happen to anyone of us

I have to say I don't know what gets to me more.....

Hearing the Capt call "may-day" several times then hearing his

low air vibe alarm going off as he gasps for air

OR

Hearing the I/C acknowledge the "may-day" and continue on as if

the Capt had just asked for a handlight. That is crazy! WTF?????

Once a "may-day" has been called THE RADIO SHOULD BE CLEARED

OF ALL TRAFFIC!!!!!!!

LET THE BUILDING BURN, RESCUE YOUR BROTHER!!!

I also was VERY shocked at that issue. It almost seemed like he did not even hear the words "may-day" being issued.

On a side note:

Just a little FYI. MAYDAY, as it is spelled for us today, is derived from the French phrase "m'aidez" (pronounced the same was as mayday) which, when broken down, is "me" (pronounced muh) and "aidez". "Aidez" is the plural form of the "you" conjugation of the verb "aider" which means "to help"

Together, the literal phrase is "you help me", or when used in the French context "HELP ME"

Don't just let the building burn while rescuing the lost member- putting the fire out just may stop most of your problems. Continue extinguishment while initiating the rescue.

And remaining calm, as if the guy called for a flashlight, when there is a may-day issued is not a bad thing. That's good and experienced commanding.
