Police Search For Driver Who Killed Paramedic

(CBS) INGLEWOOD, Calif. Inglewood police on Monday sought the driver of a car involved in a collision that killed an off-duty paramedic riding a motorcycle.

David Pass, who worked for the Los Angeles Fire Department, was fatally injured in the collision at La Brea and Centinela avenues about 9:30 Saturday morning, said Sgt. Gabriela Garcia of the Inglewood Police Department.

Pass, 43, of Inglewood, was pronounced dead at a hospital, said Investigator Jerry McKibben of the coroner's office.

Based on eyewitness information, the car was a champagne- or gold-colored, late '90s to early 2000 model Chevrolet Impala driven by a black woman, Garcia said.

Investigators are reviewing video from nearby businesses trying to obtain additional information that may help them track down the hit-and-run driver, she said.

LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey confirmed that Pass was not on duty when the collision occurred, but said he could not provide information as to the paramedic's length of service with the department or other details.
