It was a fleet service vehicle. A group of off duty FDNY firefighters stopped for the call to assist. They were with a group of explorers coming back from some type of challenge in Putnam County.

Looks like one heck of a crash!

Amazing that the headrest was poking through the rear window.

Guy is lucky!

My better half had one of those cars, I convinced her earlier this year to get rid of it and get a Jeep.

I feel better knowing she isn't in a Pillsbury Biscut Can anymore.

Just do me a favor and call the firehouse whenever you are working because we always seem to get these jobs when you are on. Pleasure as always... and those city buses would look alot better without that big FDNY on the side right john?? ;) I believe they were called NYC*EMS when you were there if my history books are correct. See you at the next one and im still waiting for you to come pick up an application.

FDNY came up with a bus to transport equipment and a van for their explorers- they were on their way home from Putnam County Explorer Weekend, they came up on Saturday for competitions, had a campout, trained all day Sunday and went home- guess their ride was a little longer then they anticipated.

The weekend also had explorers from long island, rockland, and westchester

They ought to leave all these wrecks on the side of the road with a big sign indicating the date and number of killed or injured so these idiots get the hint that we're not in Germany and these roads are not the Audobon.

We made a similar comment at our most recent fatal motorcycle wreck on Route 9, Chris. I suggested using the photos of the deceased covered with yellow blankets as billboards urging everyone with "Crotch Rockets" to slow down.

I see more and more memorial crosses lining the sides of highways, but what I don't see are people slowing down. After having my license almost 14 years I am FINALLY wearing a seatbelt and driving a little slower. It is very hard for me to slow down, since driving with a heavy foot has been the way I drive since day one, but I really am trying.

Old habits dies hard, but I would rather kill a habit then kill myself.
