Signal bounce

Last night at about 0100hrs, I heard Dover Township FD (Ocean County) NJ give out an outside smoke odor on 154.145 on an old Uniden base. I can usually get as far south as Jersey City and Northern Monmouth County on my Uniden BC785D, but this was the first time I've ever heard Ocean County in Yonkers. Just thought I'd share. Very cool.

Awesome! Who's frequency is that around here?

Also, I once was told you can hear 46.26 loud and clear from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Too bad you can't hear it loud and clear from many parts of this county.

I had MVFD on. Dover Twnsp, NJ has the same freq. A few years back I had the scanner on in Seaside Park, NJ on a stormy night and kept hearing strange unit numbers on that same freq. One of the units was a "Pipeline." Then I realized I was hearing Philly at the Jersey Shore. They too used 154.145 until upgrading.

Just to add while on vacation in Wildwood, NJ I was able to pick up FDNY Bronx, FDNY Manhattan, and NYPD SOD like I was in NYC. The skip traveled right down the Atlantic.

I also heard some stories about Dutchess Co. Dispatchers on 46.36 having convos a few years back with CA Dispatchers.

Peekskill PD old frequency 154.860 it was quite often that you

could pick up a PD up in Mass.

On a clear night it's pretty amazing what you can pick up.

:D

Monmouth County EMS Channel 1 (155.175) can sometimes be heard in Haverstraw, Rockland County. There's nothing like bringing a patient to the local NJ hospital and hearing the dispatcher think that we're bringing one to Nyack Hospital.
