Rye Brook MVA w/ Ejection (7/1/07)

Saw this in the Journal News this morning and i'm a bit curious to know if anyone has any additional information. Per the article the passenger of the first MVA, who was ejected, was flown to WMC w/ non life threatening injuries. Not to quarterback this, but i'm curious as to the thought process behind flying him out. Given the proximity to WMC and time (4:40am) of day it would have appeared that a ground transport would have been optimal, if not faster than chopper transport. Again, i'm not looking to quarterback only understand the thought process. I appreciate the help in advance.
