(AP)- HENDERSON- Two people are dead and one Henderson police officer is injured following a domestic dispute call that turned into a police standoff that lasted more than four hours.

The police officer was shot in the leg after arriving on the scene of the domestic dispute. He is expected to by okay. Police did evacuate nearly 20 homes in the Van Wagenen Street and Greenway Road area, just west of Boulder Highway.

The incident started this morning around 7 a.m. when a woman called police for help. According to police, the suspect, an estranged boyfriend, shot at police hitting the 18-year veteran officer in the leg. Police are reporting that the suspect and a woman are dead in the home. Another woman and child were able to escape.

Henderson police set up a command center in the neighborhood and more than 50 police officers were on the scene.
