Nassau Police Test

10 posts in this topic

I saw a cool commercial for Nassau County Police test on YES, and also saw a couple of times a Nassau County PD Recruitment car on Central Ave. in Hartsdale.

It's a great department to work for, with many different divisions to go into as your career progresses, and it's also a very busy department.

Just to note, Nassau County PD also provides EMS to many communities in Nassau County.

Just for the sake of arguement and comparison, about 29,300 signed up for the Suffolk County PD exam, which was held this past Saturday at 50 different high schools across the County. SCPD hires about 100 per year.

I signed up to take the test just because it's stupid for me not to take it. But what really burns me is that everything is a lottery; even if you test in the #1 spot, there's no guarantee that you get hired.

How do they do the lottery they just randomly assign numbers to people despite what they score? What's the point of that if that's the case, you're not getting the best people out there if your taking someone with an 85 over someone with a 95 or better

The lottery is a problem if you ask me! I believe Suffolk also uses this system...very unusual rules. I believe they split residents and non residents into two groups...then they take every one with 75 or better and resident and come up with some random order that makes no sense...then they do the same with non residents 75 or better and start at the next number under the resident list. A few years ago I took this exam (Suffolk), scored 100, and was list number 13,397...That was great for me! I was so looking forward to 15 years from now when they got to me on the list...hahahaha. These tests are a waste of time for non residents...almost as much as Yonkers tests...They do a great advertising campaign and have a great system to work in, and they make money hand over fist when they give these exams. If you are looking for practice exams this is not the one...$100 is a lot of money to shell out for practice...aren't the NYPD exams still free or at least a lot cheaper than this?

NYPD exams are free! Takes 2 seconds to apply online. They are also alot easier than most of the other PD tests out there...but practice is practice

If you want to be a cop, and almost guarantee a spot (i said almost, there's never a guarantee in life, but thats just what I hear alot about NYPD, they'll take anybody), that'll be the test to take. Despite their reputation, its still a job in the NYC and a chance to get your feet wet, and start your time. Not to mention, I read somewhere that they are hoping to get a new contract in by the January class, so hopefully the pay wont suck as bad. They will be having a test this Saturday...and I'm not sure, but I think they will be having one or two more after this...They are already expecting to be short something like 1600 police officers.

Gotta great point about the NYPD...it is one of the greatest learning experiences any law enforcement officer can obtain. You see it all, and that is only the first week. Maybe they should buy the SCPD and NCPD lists and hire off of those too...They are the same exam and who cares who gave it.

Nassau and Suffolk put everyone through their own academies, correct? Even NYPD or State Troopers?
