Fishing - Time to catch the big one

10 posts in this topic

Well its that time of year again. Anyone know first hand on whats runnin right now in the Hudson/ L.I. Sound? Heard they are killing the striped bass in the hudson. Couple weeks ago someone reeled up a 30 LBS striper off of Irvington. Anyone here anything on blues in the sound?

also, Anyone have any specific tips or a certain spot where you can catch "the big one"?

I think that the blues can be caught starting in June. I like to fish every chance that I get.

I'm waiting to get out into the open waters. Stripers ran huge numbers this year and are starting to make their way out to the sound. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks some warmer water will bring the schools of bait fish into the area.

Don't forget to get your fishing PERMIT! Don't want to see anyone from here get a summons.

Hopefully I can find a nice afternoon and get out there, miss the quiet of fishing...especially with a 2 year old around...Daddy, daddy, daddy....ahhhhh!

For anyone else who likes to surfcast off the South Shore and has a 4x4 permit, don't forget that all the Jones/Robert Moses area access points are closed to vehicles due to erosion! Guess we'll be doing a lot of walking or spend half the day driving to Montauk!

This sign was at Democrat Point...
