The Firefighter Challenge June 23-24, 2007

Featured on ESPN and known as the "Toughest Two Minutes in Sports" The Firefighters’ Challenge is a five-part competition course in which firefighters simulate the rigorous physical demands of firefighting while wearing their full protective equipment. This event will feature an entire weekend of firefighting competition, displays and exhibitions.

Planned events include the Firefighters’ Challenge, The Kids Challenge, parade of new and antique fire apparatus from across New England and a historical exhibit on firefighting in the city of Lowell, motorcycle rally and various safety demonstrations.

Top ranked national and world competitors in the Firefighters’ Challenge are expected to visit Lowell to compete alongside your local firefighters. The event will draw thousands of fellow firefighters and supporters who will root on their brothers and sisters.

The Kid’s Challenge will bring alive many children’s dreams of becoming a real firefighter. This challenge allows them the chance to be part of the action and simulating being a real firefighter wearing the gear, dragging a hose and seeing the range of fire engine and ladder trucks on display.

has anyone else ever taken the combat challenge as a physical agility test for a hiring list?

on Cape Cod (Barnstable County) the Chief's Association used the basic test for their hiring list for career and POC departments, any time under 5 minutes was considered acceptable, and it was considered a test of agility, not best time = better score
