Description Of Incident: Perp in custody attacked P.O., perp shot (4) times

Perp at Kings County Hospital, who was in custody for assault, attacked P.O. who was guarding him. Perp, while handcuffed was able to remove the side rail of his hospital bed and used it to strike the officer several times. In return, the P.O. used his o.c. spray, as well as his baton to no avail. P.O. then opened fire, striking the suspect (4) times. P.O. is being treated, as well as the suspect at Kings County Hospital.
