Officer Shot in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (AP) -- A police officer was shot this evening but is expected to survive.

Stay tuned to WCBS on air and online for the latest on this developing story.

Police say the officer was shot in one of his legs after 7 p.m. in the 78th Precinct, which includes Brooklyn's Prospect Park and Park Slope sections.

A suspect was in custody, and it wasn't clear if anyone else was involved in the shooting.

The officer is being treated at New York Methodist Hospital.
