Every time I've had to flee for cover it wasn't because of circumstances within my control. At fights where someone comes back later. Shootings where the guy came back to finish the job. Driving down the wrong block at the wrong time. I can think of half a dozen stories of crews having to abandon a patient when someone showed up with a gun. Be the safest, smartest, and most heads up guy on the job and you can still be taken down by a stray or from someone taking pop shots at your bus. If your in an area that sees gun fire wear your vest.
