NYS FF1 Certification?

Can someone clarify the FF1 Certification? To become FireFighter 1 certified in NYS what are the requirements? I know I have the classes but never took a test. Thanks for whoever can sort this out.

To become certified as FF1 in NYS you must take the Firefighter 1 course.

If you haven't taken firefighter 1 then your other certifications give you the equivalent of firefighter 1 which allows you to take FF2 or any other course which the prerequisite is FF1 and/or to take the national Firefighter 1 certification test.

The equivalents are:

Basic Firefighter

Intermediate Firefighter

HazMat First Responder-Operations

Terrorism Awareness

To take the national certification test you will also need to be able to prove that you have taken a CPR w/first aid course and passed. The card doesn't have to be current, you just need to prove that it was taken, so when that cpr card expires, keep it. Also be sure that it includes the first aid portion.
