Anyone notice Croton and Hawthorne have new tones? Why is this?

Croton has changed its tones because our "A" tone is not compatable with our Police desk radio console. The old "A" tone was a Zetron type tone - and doesn't work with the Motorola console. (So I'm told.) Until all of our pagers are updated, we will be using both. As for Hawthorne - I think they created an EMS tone and kept the old tone for FIRE - not 100% sure.

**Update.**

Croton's been using the new tones only for 5-6 weeks now, and it has been working without any 'new' problems. If you listen, there are three different tone settings being used.

During the day, you'll hear the fire tone followed by the siren tone.

During the night, you'll only hear the fire tone.

All EMS calls are (supposed) to be toned out with EMS tones only.

On another note....

We've changed the DPL on our operations frequency.

It is no longer a DPL of 503, it is a DPL of 731.

We are utilizing this "ops" frequency (Croton UHF 4) for all of our fireground communications.

Even though some with archaic trains of thought still think we should use 46.26 all the time! (No names or companies mentioned).
