Former fire coordinator dies

Middletown – Former Orange County Fire Coordinator Erich “Mickey” Lachmann died Sunday night following a brief illness.

Lachmann served as fire coordinator from January 1988 to October 1991.

County Emergency Services Commissioner Walter Koury said Monday that Lachmann left a big legacy to the county.

“During his approximate four year tenure with Orange County, he was very instrumental in the design and construction of the current Orange County Fire Training Center in New Hampton,” said Koury. “Mickey was a very dedicated firefighter and very dedicated to the fire safety of the residents of Orange County.”

Memorial services for Erich "Mickey" Lachmann are to be announced.
