What I Deal With....

I'd just like to give you a example of what I deal with. This message was sent to me via our Private Message system, and although I am posting it publicly, I am withholding the members name to keep the anoynimty of the private message system. THE IDENTITY OF THE PRIVATE MESSAGE SENDER WILL ALWAYS BE HELD CONFIDENTIAL. Please note that I will never reveal what anyone sends me via PM, this is just an extreme case.

Let me give you some background. This member posted some negative comments about an incident in the Incident Workshop forum, and since negative comments or incident critique is not tolerated, this post was deleted. This member then continued to taunt me. I wrote him a PM regarding the situation, explained to him why his post was deleted, explained to him the situation and addressed his taunting of me on the thread, and this was his reply.

All I try to do is maintain a clean and constructive atmosphere on this forum. Although I take a lot of shit for it, I do take pride when seeing the behavior in other forums. I also strongly beleive that incident critque and negative comments about incidents on this forum leads nowhere constructive, and it has been a long standing policy in the Incident Workshop forum that it isn't tolerated. There is even a warning on the top of the forum.

This member has been banned. Posting on this forum is a privledge, not a right. If you don't like this forum or have an issue with me, email me and we'll work it out. Otherwise, find another forum. Although I'm not upset by the letter given the obvious immaturity, I have a number of people who criticize this forum and send me hate mail over it. Here's an example I want to share.

Also, to preface this letter, please note I said nothing about career or volunteer firefighters or firefighting in my PM to this member. Those who know me know how ignorant this member's comments are.

This member, who is under age 20, buffed a recent fire and has had an attitude in the past on this forum that he and his department is the best. He had an issue with positioning at a particular incident. I rebutted his comment via PM with some facts, and also gave him the number of the chief of the department, since he had such an issue with it that he had to make a huge ordeal out of a minor issue. Little does he know I have photos of his department's rescue pulling up smack center in the front of the building, blocking the deparmtnents ladder truck, the same thing he felt so passionate about telling the world about this incident. I'm also curious about how someone who lives 20 minutes away from this particuluar incident could be there before the 2nd Alarm was called, which was immediately.

The member also signed the PM with the departments listed. I have nothing but respect for these departments, and please do not think this one immature and angry person represents the memberships of these departments. He has since sent me threats that his chiefs won't care and support him in this matter, and has threatened me.

I'm ashamed this person is a member of the fire service. I'm also curious where the "career prick" came from. If this person somehow makes it onto a job somewhere, I hope this attitude comes back to bite him.
