Minitor II Pager Repair

9 posts in this topic

Does anyone know of a good reputable company that still repairs Motorola Minitor II's? The company we have been using now says they are all unrepairable. We did find one place but it has a flat rate of $70 for all diagnosis and repairs. The old company was $10 to diagnose and repairs billed at the actual work rate, but rarely above $60. IT would be a shame to get rid of pagers that still have some life in them, and really have monor problems with them, just because companies are in a rush to sell newer ones.

Im pretty sure MetroCom will program the pager for you as long as you supply identification. Just be aware its going to cost you. They probably have a flat fee for programming plus a 75 dollar labor charge. I had them refurb an HT1250 of mine and i ended up spending 130 dollars - between the labor, tax and material.

Motorola discontinued the parts for the Minitor 2's about a year or so ago. Some placed stop piled the parts, but they now get top dollar because your choices of places to get them fixed are very slim.

Any radio shop should be able to reprogram pagers. I have the licensed Motorola software to take care of our Minitor 3's, 4's & 5's plus the HT & CDM series radios.

Not to hijack this topic, but do you know where to get software for Motorola?

We get our software directly from MOTO. There are many other ways to get software, but they are not legit and cannot be discussed in these forums.

as trauma said the min 2's are no longer being produced, nor are spare parts readily available. I have the same problem, in my dept I take care of our pagers and it has been a head ache, we ae currently looking into if there is any buy back policy or maybe trade in value on them. We have min2, min4 and min5 in our dept. I have to say the minitor 5's have been awesome, they recieve great and the battery on the lasts a heck of a lot longer than the others.

The Minitor 5 is the best pager to come out from MOTO since the Minitor 2 series. The new 5 is bigger and heavier then a 3 or 4, but they receive great and the battery lasts for about 5 days without a recharge. The battery is similar to a cell phone battery. The 3 was garbage, the 4 was garbage in a fancier bag.

The 5's have the stored voice feature. You can also get the 5 in a dual channel configuration. These pagers can silent scan two channels at the same time. For example.....Along with being Captain of my VAC, I am also a member of my local FD. I have the EMS and FD paging frequencies programmed in my pager. When I am on silent scan my pager will sound for either agency. This feature was not available on the 3's & 4's. The only way to scan on those was to scan with an open carrier which was annoying because you do not always want to hear all of the pages going out for all the other agencies in the County.

There is also a amplified charger for the 5's. You really do not need these unless you live in a fringe area where the pagers for your agencies do not always go off.
