Ferrara delivers two "Strong Arm" vehicles to Ista

3 posts in this topic

I know this was discussed a while ago in the topic Ferrara Strongarm Video, Ferrara Fire Videos but killing time I found this Press Release on the web.

I can see having one or maybe two of these in an area for those occasional massive fires - but why do they need 13! They have one plus these two delivered last summer and then an order for 10 additional units.

Actually, looking at Istanbul Metropolitan's web site, it looks like an interesting place, they have 100 resuce robots and getting 5 helicopters for disaster rescue and fire-fighting.

Ferrara delivers two "Strong Arm" vehicles to Istanbul

HOLDEN, Louisiana — FERRARA FIRE APPARATUS, INC. recently delivered two Ferrara "STRONG ARM" revolutionary firefighting vehicles to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in Istanbul, Turkey.

These two units are in addition to the first Turkish Strong Arm delivered earlier this year. The first unit has been in service since January and has been utilized in a variety of fire and rescue operations with the Istanbul Fire Brigade, said, Chris Ferrara, President and CEO of Ferrara Fire Apparatus.

These units feature Ferrara's "Inferno" Medium four door custom fire chassis with IFS Independent Front Suspensions, Cummins ISL-400 HP diesel engines, Hale Q-Max 2000GPM pumps, Foam-Pro's 2001 Foam systems Ferrara's trademark heavy duty extruded aluminum bodies, all LED lighting, and CAPS, Ferrara's complete airbag protection system protecting all outboard seating positions.

Mr. Ferrara added that the Strong Arms are suited for a wide variety of roof, window and wall ventilation applications. The mammoth 1,100# ultra-heavy duty piercing nozzle is fabricated of stainless steel for heavy duty continuous use in brutal environments and features a fortified hardened piercing tool at the tip for pinpoint accuracy combined with compelling force during safe, effective roof or wall ventilation, controlled demolition or other specialized fire ground firefighting operations.

Joel Domangue, Aerial Sales & Product Manager said, "The Istanbul Fire Brigade and the city administration had the vision and foresight to Think Outside the Box" and identified the Strong Arm as a multi-functional special operations vehicle that had the versatility and capability to address a wide variety of fire and rescue emergencies. He further stated that the "Istanbul Fire Brigade serves approximately 12-15 million people in a highly congested, extremely busy ninety (90) square mile area.

"A high profile delegation from the Instanbul Metropolitan Municipality recently visited Ferrara's manufacturing headquarters to inspect the facility and to review and evaluate our products and services and during the visit awarded us the contract on Ten (10) additional All-Wheel Drive Strong Arm firefighting vehicles". He further stated.

In addition to the roof and wall ventilation, the Strong Arm can be used to deliver 1,500 gallons per minute of flow through 52 individual aqua-jet nozzles that produce a 50 foot water curtain to quickly eliminate the fire source in confined spaces. It is capable of penetrating a 6" solid concrete structure and is no match for asphalt shingle or slate roofs, lap siding exterior walls, box cars, tractor trailers, mobile homes, or steel storage buildings and sea going containers and even lifts up to 10,000 lbs. like a crane.

Ferrara continues to "Lead the Way" by providing innovative products and services to enhance firefighter safety. We accept our role as the industry's most progressive and innovative manufacturer. We embrace the opportunity to design safer more efficient emergency fire and rescue vehicles and we accept the challenge to be the best!

I'm thinking Istanbul is taking indirect attack to the next level. Just punch one of these bad boys into the fire apt. and let it rip.
