Reflective Door Interior Striping On New Apparatus

9 posts in this topic

Hi everyone!

I am looking for input and preferably photos of apparatus that has reflective striping on doors(on the interior, visible when door is open) I believe this is required/recommended per NFPA 1901. I have seen some of the FDNY vehicles with the stop signs, but that is not I had in mind. I am looking for examples of actual use for a new ladder I am involved in spec'ing.

Also, along the same lines, looking for layout of lighting, on rear of mid mounted tower ladders.

Thanks for your help!

Our new Smeal is on a Spartan Gladiator Chassis. We have the "Stop" signs due to the requirement but there is also reflective striping on the outer edge of the door jam. I will try to post a picture of it sometime this week.

On our new Seagrave engine it has that "Seagrave" reflective striping, plus we had Whelen 500 Series LED lights put on all 4 cab doors. Here's a picture (although not the best) where you can see it.

The LED lights come on anytime the doors are open.

Just my two cents, but how about this:

Three or four 3-inch wide stripes, with 3-inch spacing, on a 45-degree angle, angled top to bottom away from the truck.

/ / / / driver side - passenger side \ \ \ \

That might do the trick.

That chevron striping is on some Westchester units as well. Off hand I know Fairview, Pleasentville and Montrose have it.
