Again we in the fire service have broke the 100 mark,hopefully this will be it for the year. As we all try to make our job safer it appears that the odds are always against us. Manpower, bad decisions made on the fire ground, accidents,heart attacks too mention a few are like the black cloud that hangs over all of us everywhere. Yes, the US Fire Administration has confirmed 103 LODDs in 2006. This # is still subject to change due to delayed notifications. And, once again, heart attacks are the leading cause...

Like the song says "when will we ever learn" 103 is not somthing to be proud of when 25 % come from appratus responding/returning.

Maybe in the year 2007 we should do two important things

1. Be safe...teach safety.....lead the safety example by setting an example.

2. let us act as Professional Firefighters as if some is always looking over our shoulders with a camera and the next photo appearing on the front page is us.
