First Photo Hunt With My New D-Reb XTi 400D

13 posts in this topic

Today, I went on a photo hunt to test out and learn my new Canon Digital Rebel XTi and my new Garmin c330 GPS Navigation system (as detailed in my blog, http://www.x635.blogspot.com ).

Here are the photos:

Another really lucky day, a lot of good apparatus I caught. The camera is great, and so is the navigation system.

Hey Seth, I like the Garmin, the funny thing is is that at the same time you were at Grove and Grand Avenue IN NEW HAVEN, I was up the Street on Elm doing errands!!! LOL

BTW you can't take a left onto Grand Avenue from the way you were coming! Have to let Garmin know they are wrong with that!

Those photos are REALLY sharp. Nice digi.

At what yard did you get the CSX photos?

hahaha, my Roadmate does the same thing to me on occasion...too bad they aren't 110% perfect. Just curious x635 if the Garmin offers map updates and such?

To elaborate a little more, a Photo Hunt is where you go exactly as it sounds...hunting photos. Whatever you find you find.

The CSX photos were from the Cedar Hill CSX yard in North Haven, CT. They have quite a massive freight operation going there...never noticed the extent before.

I noticed the "No Left Turn" when I went to turn in New Haven...but since I couldn't make that turn, after I passed it the GPS quickly rerouted me, which was nice. The Garmin does come with lifetime map and software updates, and a USB cable to interface with my computer and the internet.

Here's a bonus photo that didn't make the spread:

Ah I see you found New England Fire Equipment and Apparatus! I knew you would follow that CSX train!

Great photos from the new camera!

What is with the "european" Chief's car responding?

It looks like the whole photo was reversed. If you look directly above the grille of the engine responding behind the chief vehicle, it appears the lettering is reversed (it looks like NWOT).

LOL. That photo was taken from the view in my drivers side mirror. Hence the flip.

The Garmin GPS units really work great. I bought the NUVI 350 about 6 months ago and it has come in real handy finding jobs instead of fumbling through maps ! Good luck with it.

Where is that firehouse located? It has no identifying marks on it.

I thought it looked like that closed W.P.F.D. station off of Central Ave. (Rte. 100).....

That's the old Stamford Fire-Rescue Pacific Street station. They moved a couple of years back to a new station
