New Firebox Lights.

If you haven't noticed, NYC has installed a new lights near the Firebox's. In the past a small orange light on the hanging from a pole indicated the location of a Firebox. NYC has just recently installed a new LED looking light on top of the street lamps.

Box #3432 Mace Ave and Eastchester Road.

Box #3431 Waring and Fenton Ave.

Box #4363 Mace Ave and Kingsland Ave

Box #4375 Alerton ave and Gun Hill

If you didn't notice the theme. It's "Aprils fools", no way to get help here. Try the next Firebox, look down the block and see that new fancy light. Tricked you again, no firebox here either. Lots of lights, but no way to get help.

I thought the city was in the process of phasing out all the boxes??

No Plans on getting rid of the boxes. They did take a large amount of them out of service and remove them from streets.

They were suppose to change some of them to a new style but havn't seen that yet.

This is one of those DOT does one thing and FDNY does another.
