MOUNT PLEASANT - Police are searching for a man possibly involved in a string of recent armed robberies in the woods tonight behind Wendy's on Route 9A .

The man, identified as the "bomber," has allegedly robbed at least two Subway sandwich shops in Greenburgh, a hotel in Hawthorne and possibly another hotel in Yonkers, officials said. In each instance, the man has told witnesses he has explosives strapped to his chest and then makes threats to blow them up if they do not cooperate.

Around 8 p.m. tonight, police received a report the fast-food restaurant was being held up.

At the scene, police from several surrounding communities, including Greenburgh, New Castle, Eastchester, Pleasantville, along with state and county officers assisted in the search. Parts of Route 9A and the Saw Mill River Parkway were also being blocked off.

The man is described as being black, about 6-feet tall and in his late 30s or early 40s with a medium build.
