Whats Carried In Your Pockets?

9 posts in this topic

EVERYONE should carry a pair of linesman's pliers in their right pocket. This tool will be VERY valuable if you get jammed up. You can cut pretty much anything that entangles you like cable tv wire, the wire form central a/c duct work, wire used to hold up drop ceiling grids. A Leatherman tool may have a wire cutter in it, but to deploy it in an emergency situation is a little difficult, and it may not cut everyhting a real pair of linesman's pliers will cut. After that as far as tools go, it should be based on what you do and what you find yourself using 99.9% of the time. I carry a pair of channel lock pliers (with the handle's modified for through the lock forcible entry), multi-head screw driver, flat bladed screw driver (for forcing cheap imitation American series pad locks), elevator drop key, shove knife, square key tool, large phillips screw driver 25' of utility rope (with snap clips on both ends)to take windows with halligan tool, metal chocks that go over the hinges, wood chocks, in addition to my linesman's pliers. All the tools except my channel lock and linesman's pliers are kept in a small leather tool pouch I bought at Sears in my left pocket with my chocks. I keep both sets of pliers and my utility rope in my right pocket (reason for this...when you become entangled your left hand goes to your left shoulder strap when wearing a Scott 4.5 air pack because the left strap contains the low pressure hose that leads to the regulator). I used to carry a 20' piece of webbing daisy chained in this pocket too, but I have packed that behind the left knee pad of my pants, where I leave a tail sticking out of the top so I can easily remove it. This seems to work well, and doesn't get caught up at all on anything when crawling around doing a search.

Thank god for IzzyEng4, the only one here who does what i do. I put my left glove in my left pocket, and my right glove in my right pocket, very quick, less fumbling with your gloves when you need those prescious seconds
