Wow, i know i heard E98 get dispatched to a car fire, but there was alot of radio traffic. I thought i heard mention of the field comm unit, that definately sucks! So muns, was it a total loss, anything salvagable? Most importantly, was anyone hurt? Thats definately bad news, but good to hear they are talking of replacments already! As long as nobody was hurt, the vehicle can be replaced! Keep us updated!

It was minor - nothing drastic as far as I know.

As we hear more, we'll pass it along.

The Field Comm unit had a little fire in it.

It appears to have been minor, and is awaiting repairs.

That's the word I am hearing.....

Who staffs this field com that has been appearing at all these incidents lately?

The men and women at Fire Contol staffed by Westchester Dept. of Emergency Services staff the field communications unit. They send it to any large scale incident for better radio communications

The info I received yesterday, is that it will not be repaired.

Pretty major electrical damage to the unit.

Part of the bad news is that the county is self-insured so no insurance money for it for the new Field Comm Unit.
