I don't know if anybody knew this, but apparently one former owner misused and profited off of Empire's old rig by saying that "The Truck Survived 9/11." A member of Empire was lost at the WTC actually. It was ridiculous. I hope the rig goes back into good hands.

BTW- Chris- That is a solid snorkel. Still looks like she has some years left in her, when did Hillcrest buy her/sell her?

Thanks.

No, I hadn't heard that. What a scumbag. Doing something like that not only disgraces the men who were murdered that day, but in particular Welles Crowther who (as you know) is the member of Empire that you speak of.

Bought in 1962, sold in 1978. She was replaced by our 1977 Pierce/Hendrickson 65' Snorkel, who herself was replaced in 2002 by our Pierce 95' midmount tower ladder, and was donated to a country down in South America (which one exactly escapes me at the moment).

The 1962 International Snorkel does have a tragic history, however. In 1967 she was operating at a fire when the boom came in contact with energized overhead wires. One of our Engineers, William F. Steffens, Jr., went to open a compartment and when he contacted the truck, he was electrocuted and killed.

Remember585,

Maybe I will buy the old Engine 119 for (4) reasons.

(1) I absolutely love Macks

(2) Rig is in EXCELLECT shape

(3) I wanna drive it

(4) I would drive past your Firehouse every meeting night

Lights, Siren, Air Horns just to taunt you guys for selling it!

As of right now, highest bid is $6,600 and 5 hours to go (1100 today).

And for those of you tracking the skate park equipment.... still no bids.
