Official Press Release

New York - On Monday, July 19th, The Leary Firefighters Foundation President and Founder Denis Leary unveiled a new state-of-the-art Mobile Command Center and presented the keys to FDNY Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta.

This emergency management vehicle will serve as a vital asset in facilitating FDNY Command at large-scale events and emergencies both locally and throughout the Northeast region. It will also be deployed at high profile events such as the upcoming Republican National Convention.

Equipped with full-scale inter-agency communication and video monitoring capabilities, the Mobile Command Center will be utilized as a remote command post at major incidents from which emergency personnel can safely evaluate and manage fire and rescue efforts.

It will also serve as a visible point of contact for communications between the FDNY, NYPD, FBI, OEM and local officials. The Leary Firefighters Foundation is proud to support the FDNY in their efforts to maintain the highest level of public safety for the residents of the City of New York.

"The Fire Department places a high priority on upgrading our technology and equipment. Providing our members with the most advanced resources will help ensure the safety of our members as well as the public," said Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta.

"Through the generosity of the Leary Firefighters Foundation, we are fortunate to add a state-of-the-art Mobile Command Center to our fleet. This command vehicle will play a central role in coordinating our operations at any large-scale emergency that occurs in the City. We thank the Foundation for its continued support of the FDNY and the people of New York."

"We thank the Fire Department for their tireless efforts in protecting the people of the city of New York," said Denis Leary, President of The Leary Firefighters Foundation. "We are honored to have contributed this vehicle to help enable them to meet the challenges they face everyday."

Funds for the vehicle were raised in partnership with the FDNY'S Fire Safety Education Fund and it was designed and developed by top industry professionals according to the specifications of ranking FDNY commanders.

The Mobile Command Center features a radio interoperability system to allow communications between various departments and a video monitoring and recording system supported by a computer network, four exterior surveillance cameras, two 40-inch LCD flat panel monitors, a 16 channel digital video recorder, and a 42-foot pneumatic mast with camera and mast safety sensor. This network will enable communications and tactical officers to examine changing conditions during an emergency.
