the test for westchester county towns and villages was just given in DEC of 2004 so the next test should be DEc 2008 if i am not mistaken..

Orange County has a Towns & Villages/Deputy Sheriff test coming up, but I think the filing date may have past. Some PDs are here have guys making in the low to mid $70s.

Not as close but Suffolk County Police Test is coming up on June 9th, 2007. Last filing date is April 11, 2007....2007 starting base salary is $57,811. With 5 years of service, the base salary is $97,958 without any benefits.

You're right, but all you need is an address. The truth of the matter is, most new recruits transfer out after spending a year or two in the Vern. This is actually a big problem for the MVPD and has been occuring for quite some time. In fact Mayor Ernie addressed it not so long ago in the media. He was actually trying to get these other municipalities to reimburse MT.Vernon for the monies they spend on training these new recruits that end up leaving for these other Depts. His effort obviously failed and to this day there still is a constant mass exodus from the job. He should be at least happy though other FDs. just don't take transfers, otherwise the FDMV would also be experiencing a revolving door of personnel.

Mt. Vernon should address the reason why cops are leaving rather than penalize other municipalities for taking them. Guys are transfering because they are looking for a better job. If Mt. Vernon fixes there internal problems, then mabe guys will stay.

Also if you are interested in becoming a police officer take every test you can, for practice at the very least.

NYPD testing is always coming out and it is free. The starting pay is bad but at least you can get the experence and then transfer.

That really only goes for the FD. I've been to some PD swearing in where the new cops are introduced as being residents of somewhere other than MV
