(New York-WABC) -

Winds brought down power lines across the region following a strong batch of winds that moved through the area.

Power Outages:

Suspended on the "A" line between Howard Beach and the Rockaways.

Officials say a metal canister was blown by the wind under a subway train.

It is not known how long service will be out.

Shuttle bus service will be available between Howard Beach, Rockaway Park and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue.

On Staten Island, the winds came down near Shadyside and Woodvale avenues just before 3 p.m.

They brought several poles down. No injuries were reported. Some 2,000 Con Edison customers lost power, but it was restored within the hour.

Strong winds ripped through Central New Jersey this afternoon, bringing down trees in Perth Amboy, Sayreville and other locations.
