Yonkers police hire 4, promote 5

Five police officers were promoted to higher ranks and four new recruits were hired today at a ceremony at the Riverfront Library in Larkin Plaza.

Yonkers police Commissioner Robert Taggart promoted one lieutenant and four sergeants.

Jill Messina, a sergeant, was promoted to the highest rank of the nine people. She was elevated to lieutenant.

Police Officers Brian McCormak, John Viviano, John McGuinness and Detective Justin Barbato were promoted to sergeant.

Denise Cronin, Yesenia Garcia-Mustafa, Javier Lugo and Peter Schwartz were all hired as police officers.
