What type of fire protection does FDNY provide to Governors Island now that NYC is the official caretaker of this property? Also, is the new firehouse on Staten Island open and are any FDNY companies assigned to it yet? Thanks in advance for whatever info. you may be able to provide me with.

FDNY maintains a "Protection unit" on the island. It's a limited crew staffing the firehouse and is part of Engine 4/Ladder 15.

Not sure what equipment they are using.

Last time I was out there

Assigned to the firehouse:

ALF Engine

Brush Truck

Rearmount TL

Warehoused: In the event of an incident manpower would be brought over and staff these units.

2 Engines

2 Rearmount Ladders

1 Ambulances

The Staten Island Firehouse is now open. However only staff by EMS at this time.. This was to be a Fire/EMS building.
