WC Airport

2 posts in this topic

In my mind, the WCAP crash team is the most unknown department in westchester county. Does anyone know how many runs they do a year and what kind. I know they do your normal airport stuff but i am sure they take car fires, MVAs, and alarms. Also, how many guys do they staff? Reason i ask all this is today, the reported plane fire in hanger M, the first chief got on the scene and reported fire knocked down.

Hey, to easily answer your question, they are airport operation workers that man the 2 crash trucks. they only respond to aircraft distress calls. they are not interior certified for buildings, and they do not leave the airfield for car fires. i have worked for the airport for 7 years now. and if the alarm in a hangar goes off the municipality which the hangar lays in is dispatched.

etc.. Hangar 6, 26, W, V is armonk,

Main Terminal, Signature, and Hangar F is Port Chester, RBFD

Hangar T, E, FAA Control Tower and Hangar M is Purchase.

This is for hangar commercal alarms and minor alarms at the hangars.

If a aircraft is on fire on the ramps at these hangars the primary response is put on which is armonk, purchase, and port chester with L-30.

In response to today the crash trucks usually man btw 2-4 personal each crash truck. they are right on the field so when the county notified 60 control of the fire the crash trucks were already responding across the runways.
