Firefighters cause fire in firehouse

DALLAS, TX, Jun. 26 (UPI) -- Potatoes left cooking on a stove after

firefighters left to respond to a traffic accident sparked a blaze at a

Dallas firehouse.

The Dallas Morning News reported Saturday the fire caused $125,00 in damage

to the firefighters' quarters, but no equipment was damaged.

"I'll bet if you ask, most departments have had this happen," Fire Marshal

Ladis Barr said. "They're always responding to other people's emergencies. I

guess you never know when they'll respond to their own."

The restoration of the station house will take three to four weeks, however,

Danny Douthit, a former Lancaster volunteer firefighter, donated his

recreational vehicle for the firefighters to sleep in while on duty

.

That did NOT happen at a Dallas Firehouse.

It was the City of Lancaster Fire Station 3. They were cooking, when the alarms went off for a MVA on I-35E. @ Beltline Rd. They just happened to leave the potatoes cooking on the stove, and responded to the call. A passer-by noticed smoke coming from Station 3, and called 911. The fire did $125,000 in damage to the living quarters, and kitchen.

It amazes me that the media can't even get the story right.
