Initial Summary:   

Firefighter Irwin responded with his department to a working residential fire at 1917hrs.

Irwin complained of feeling ill while on the fire ground and was treated for heat exhaustion along with two other firefighters on-scene due to severe weather conditions (heat).

The department cleared the fire at 2100hrs and firefighters were released and returned to their homes.

Department personnel followed up by calling Irwin at his residence several times to be sure he was feeling better.

Irwin indicated that he had taken a shower and was in fact feeling better, though a short time later, 2227hrs, Firefighter Irwin was found deceased at his residence from a heart attack.
