...HEAVY RAIN TO AFFECT THE AREA THROUGH THE WEEKEND...

A DEEP SOUTHERLY FLOW WILL HELP PUSH SURFACE DEWPOINTS INTO THE 70S THROUGHOUT MUCH OF THE AREA BEGINNING LATER THIS MORNING. A COLD FRONT WILL BE APPROACHING THE TRI-STATE AREA FROM THE WEST THIS AFTERNOON...AND THIS WILL TRIGGER SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THE FRONT WILL BECOME NEARLY STATIONARY OVER THE AREA THROUGH THE WEEKEND...AND SEVERAL WAVES OF LOW PRESSURE WILL SLIDE ALONG THIS FRONT...BRINGING PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE AREA SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT...WITH PRECIPITATION TAPERING OFF ON SUNDAY.

WITH AN ABUNDANT AMOUNT OF MOISTURE IN THE ATMOSPHERE...RAIN MAY BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN ANY THUNDERSTORM PRODUCED DOWNPOURS. MOTORISTS SHOULD BE AWARE FOR RAPIDLY CHANGING ROAD CONDITIONS. BETWEEN ONE AND THREE INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED TO FALL THROUGH THE WEEKEND...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN ANY THUNDERSTORMS. THIS WILL LEAD TO LOCALIZED FLOODING ON AREA ROADS...AS WELL AS RISES IN AREA RIVERS AND STREAMS.
