THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OKLAHOMA HAS PLACED THE ENTIRE TRI- STATE AREA IN A SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

A HOT...HUMID AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL BE IN PLACE ACROSS THE TRI STATE AREA THIS AFTERNOON.

A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH THE REGION DURING THE AFTERNOON...WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY DEVELOPING AHEAD OF AND ALONG THE FRONT.

THIS ACTIVITY WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND INTERIOR SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON..

SPREADING ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE TRI- STATE DURING THE EVENING.

THE PRIMARY THREAT FROM ANY SEVERE STORMS THAT DEVELOP WILL BE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SHORT LINES OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP. LARGE HAIL WILL ALSO BE A POSSIBILITY.

IN ADDITION...ANY THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR...WHICH COULD CAUSE LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING

AT 1019 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A STRONG THUNDERSTORM NEAR RIVERDALE... OR NEAR YONKERS...AND MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH.

THIS STORM WILL BE... NEAR NEW ROCHELLE BY 1030 PM. NEAR SCARSDALE BY 1035 PM. NEAR RYE BY 1040 PM. NEAR PORT CHESTER BY 1045 PM.

PEOPLE IN EASTERN BRONX AND SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER COUNTIES...

INCLUDING THE CITIES OF YONKERS...BRONXVILLE...NEW ROCHELLE...SCARSDALE...WHITE PLAINS... HARRISON...RYE AND PORT CHESTER... SHOULD MONITOR THE WEATHER SITUATION CLOSELY.

LISTEN FOR POSSIBLE WARNINGS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION SHOULD SEVERE WEATHER THREATEN.

SMALL HAIL...AND DAMAGING WINDS AROUND 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM
