The State Of New Jersey adminsiters the civil service exam for local department firefighter elegible lists in NJ.

The application filing period will be from May 1 through August 31, 2006. The Firefighter’s exam is tentatively scheduled for winter of 2006 into 2007.

Just a word of caution: If you do not already live in the jurisdiction where you want to be a fire fighter, then you MUST move there BEFORE you register for the exam. For example, if you want to be a FF in Perth Amboy, which has a residency requirement for the 1st year of employment, but you currently live in Englishtown, then you must move to Perth Amboy before you register for the exam, otherwise they will not honor your score.
