We had two buses there, who else responded EMSwise?

Scott T. Glaessgen

Westchester EMS

Elmsford Fire Dept. responded two ambulances, 58B-1 & 58B-2.

58B-2 to California Closets and 58B-1 to the Saw Mill River Parkway.

Both units did BLS transports.

Elmsford E-137 also responded to California Closets, stretching a precautionary line from the hydrant and conducting secondary searches.

Great job done by all present.

Syd Henry

Assistant Chief

Elmsford Fire Dept.

......

I plan on holding a critique in the near future with all agencies involved to see what can be done better. What is important is we learn and go on. I thank God no one was killed or seriously injured during this incident.

On another note, for some of you monday morning quarterbacks who are allready throwning negative comments, if you truly have an issue with how things were done please feel free to contact me. I will gladly meet with you and answer any questions you may have. Lunch is on me.. :D

Again,to all those who responded I want to say thank you !!!!!

Chief,

When you hold the critique, perhaps you can open it up to other departments - not just those that attended. I'm sure we could all learn a lot. Especially about MA and the specialist resources that are out there.

Once again, good job to all involved.

Not to bash or anything, but why would you respond while it is in the river, wouldnt you wait until it past for saftey. I mean i never faced this issue i could be wrong.

i believe units were requested after the fact ,they had received numerous distress calls.

The Coast Guard received at least (2) seperate transmissions on emergency Ch. 16 of people reporting a waterspout on the river with one of the people giving a "Mayday." There were also calls into various 911 systems for the same thing. The event was brief, lasting only a couple of minutes. Upon reciept of the Mayday, US Coast Guard Sector New York sent a resource from Staten Island and req. additional units from different River departments to also respond.

Obviously, no one is going to take thier rescue boat into a water spout.
