Description Of Incident: Dispatched as a man down as a result of an assault. Upon arrival, ESU observed a male victim in his early 20's sitting on the ground bleeding severely from his skull. ESU requesting Empress ALS for a possible skull fracture as a result of a gang assault and multiple hits to the head with a blunt object (possible baseball bat). Victim transported to Jacobi medical center, where he underwent emergency brain surgery and was placed on a respirator. ESU remained on scene, assisting in crime scene lighting and an evidence search.

06/14/06 after several days in a coma and a valient effort by Doctors at Jacobi Hospital the victim was taken off the respirator and later died making this now a homicide. Detective Division investigating.
