Just wondering Whats the rule out there is it allowed at work ? Is surfing any more then looking at a newspaper. Dont even mention p*** if you look at that you deserve any thing you get. emtbravo is work related any way.

At Stamford, the four 911/Phone consoles and three Police/Radio consoles have no internet connection, since they are connected to the COLLECT/NCIC mainframe and I believe the FBI forbids these terminals to have any gateway into the worldwide web.

The Fire dispatcher and Fire supervisor have separate Non-CAD computers that can access the SFRD Intranet, and also the Web. There is also a separate internet-only terminal for all dispatchers/calltakers to use for online classes and it also comes in handy for online directory assistance.

I personally do not do anything personal or e-commerce related at work, even if its a very slow day, simply because I know that our CAD Administrator and the city IT people can track all of that info. You may occasionally catch me "online" on EMTBravo while I am doing Fire... however I do not post real-time incidents that I am dispatching. I feel that it is better to wait until after your shift so you can clear your mind and ask yourself "What information am I privy to that should NOT be included in an IA?"

You are correct. NCIC / III / Connecticut' COLLECT system, et al has to be on a separated server to prevent from attacks and break ins.

NYSPIN gets us to NCIC and beyond, its a seperate terminial from cad, keeps it safe. If and when nys gets it together E- Justice is taken over. I am hoping it will be say friendlier then NYSPIN. We have big brother also, every key stroke tracked all changes highlighted. For now we can surf common sense sights and all our work realated links. But all good things come to an end. A good way for me to get fired would be to comment or post an incident thats going on (even if i posted the story after i left work). I dig the way news 12 or the Journal call looking for info . Same reply sunny and 70 in the City of Trees, Even if its snowing.
