Career FF's And On-Duty Shorts

I was wondering if any career departments in the area were allowed to wear shorts as part of their on duty station uniform? It's getting hot, and my chief doesn't think it's appropriate....except where they are worn in Florida.....we obviously think they are, and want to wear them. Anybody with a similar issue?

Not completely true mstrng1. Shorts can be worn under turnout pants anytime, also some company officers allow their guys to wear them anywhere.

Ive seen alot of Firefighters in shorts.

But If you want a good pair shorts, Go for the Dickies work shorts. (Plenty Of Pockets and a little Fire Pager/Cell pocket) You can find them at a Models.

Horry County Fire Rescue (Myrlte Beach SC area) just issued shorts today. We are allowed to wear them till September 30th. all staff are allowed to wear them except from the rank of battalion cheif and up. We must wear our bunker pants while on calls.

Greenville FD was issued Dickey shorts two years ago. FF and Capts are allowed to wear them May-September. Responding to alarms bunker pant are mandatory.
