Sullivan County to create EMS bureau

Sullivan County government will formalize its emergency services

coordination with the creation of a Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.

County Public Safety/Emergency Management Commissioner Richard Martinkovic

said the bureau would solidify the present structure.

The county already has an EMS coordinator, Gregory Tavormina, would head

up the bureau. Tavormina and deputy coordinators would facility the

programs among the 18 independent volunteer ambulance corps in the county.

The county legislature's oversight committee has given its support to the

plan, which is expected to be approved at the next full legislative

session.

This seems like another County is taking a step in the right direction. Counties should be taking the lead when it comes to EMS.

EMS Run by EMS? wow why didnt I think of it? I am being sarcastic. That is what is needed not EMS run by P.D. Not EMS run by F.D. I mean would a town, in order to save money have DPW run the P.D.?? of course not...I am not anti anyone I am pro-EMS..................be safe
