New Bus Problem...

2 posts in this topic

I am one of the proud crew members of one of Empress's new Medix built ambulances built on a ford E-Series chasis. I've been told that there is a switch or valve which is shut off following manufacture which must be opened to allow function of the a/c systems.

I wrote the manufacturer who swears that the switch is operated by vacum and is automatic, however when I turn on the A/C LAVA is blown in my already diaphortetic face. The A/C also doesn't blow cold in the cab.

I'm trying to avoid sending the vehicle to Empress's fleet maintainance depatment who are notorious for destroying a perfectly good ambulance, leaving it destined to recurrent mechanical and electrical problems which get fixed with bondo and duct tape.

As such I'm wondering if anyone knows where I might locate this elusive switch or valve so that I may throw it myslef and no londer be broiled to a golden brown in the summer.

Im not sure, but I drive a mack truck and I have to turn off a valve located on the drivers side of the engine near the fire wall by the valve cover. I always close it to get the a/c to work, but you may have to get the a/c charged to. Sometimes I have to. If this doesnt work for you then I would have another machanic check it to be sure.
