I-287 overnight lane closures start tonight

Starting tonight, the removal of spilled paint on Interstate 287 will mean overnight lane closures this week from milepost 6.9 to Exit 9 for the Hutchinson River Parkway.

State Thruway Authority maintenance crews will be removing the paint according to the following schedule, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. Emergency work, inclement weather or traffic patterns may change work hours.

• Tonight to tomorrow, the left and center lanes eastbound.

• Tomorrow to Thursday, the left lane westbound.

• Thursday to Friday, the right lane eastbound and westbound.

The spill was caused by an accident involving a tractor-trailer carrying paint on Saturday. Motorists are advised to plan for delays in the immediate area while the paint removal is being done.
