MANY DEPARTMENTS DO A DIFFERENT VERITY OF COLOR SCHEMES FOR THEIR FF'S AND OFFICERS, WERE I AM IN PUTNAM COUNTY LT'S ARE RED WITH JUST RECENTLY CHANGE WHITE AND RED SHIELDS FDNY STYLE BY THEFIRESTORE.COM, CAPTS ARE YELLOW HELMETS WITH WHITE AND YELLOW SHIELDS WITH CHIEFS THAT ARE ALL WHITE. EX CHIEFS ARE BLACK HATS WITH WHITE SHIELDS. SOME OTHER DEPARTMENTS GIVE THEIR CAPTS AND LT'S BLACK HELMETS WITH WHITE SHIELDS.

The only thing we do in AFD is helmet color as a standard. White is for Chiefs and Chaplains, Yellow for captains and lieutenants, Black fire everyone else except juniors who wear red.

As for fronts, here is what most of the firefighters follow, but there is no standard in the department

Gold Leaf - Chiefs

White for captains, lieutenants, chiefs, chaplains, fire marshal,

Black - Engine Co.

Red - Truck

Yellow - Rescue-Squad

In Dobbs Ferry the Capt's and LT's are white and the FF are black for the engine componay and red for the truck company.

in my department, we're all black helmets except if youre an exterior ff (yellow), and chief (white). ladder crew has a red background on their shield and engine crew has a black background on their shield.

in the department where i do mutual aid at when im in school, they all wear black helmets except for captains who have red helmets and chiefs who have white helmets.

Diffrent color helmets, but all have the white Shield now. Chiefs have white with red. the other officers have white with black. Rank in center
