Location: I-95 Southbound in New Haven, CT on the Pearl Harbor (Quinnapiac River) Bridge

Units Operating: CSP, East Haven PD, New Haven PD, AMR, New Haven FD

Description Of Incident: An armed robbery occured on North Frontage Road in East Haven CT and the Mobil Gas Station off Exit 51. East Haven PD officer sppotted the vehicle in question and pursued it. The area is under heavy construction due to building a new bridge for I-95 when a CSP trooper was working the construction project. Trooper joined in the pursuit. The suspect vehicle hit several cars prior to crashing on the southbound (westbound) side of the bridge. When approaching the vehicle, the Trooper and EHPD officer were fired upon by an occupant in the back seat. The trooper was shot in the chest and in the buttocks, the trooper was wearing his vest which saved his life. The EHPD officer was shot in the leg. One suspect was killed, the other injured due to the crash. It is unknow at this time if the deceased was the driver of shooter. A New Haven police officer arrived on scene and transported the trooper to Yale-New Haven hospital. Both the trooper and East Haven officer are fine and doing well. Both are in stable condition.
